Faridpur, May 20, 2025 — The Bangladesh Beekeepers Association observed World Bee Day on Monday with a special program in front of the Upazila Administration Office, Sadar Upazila, Faridpur. The event highlighted the critical role bees play in maintaining biodiversity and ensuring food security.
Carrying a banner that read “Bee Inspired by Nature to Nourish Us All”, participants gathered in a show of solidarity and awareness. Officials, beekeepers, and local residents took part in the event, aiming to educate the public on the importance of protecting pollinators like bees, whose population is under threat due to environmental changes and human activities.
Organizers emphasized the vital contribution bees make to sustainable agriculture and ecosystems. They also called for increased support for beekeepers and stronger conservation efforts.
World Bee Day, celebrated globally on May 20th, honors the birthday of Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern beekeeping. Events such as these are part of a global movement to raise awareness of the importance of bees and other pollinators.
The initiative was organized by the Bangladesh Beekeepers Association, reflecting the country’s growing commitment to sustainable environmental practices and agricultural development.
