Satkhira, Bangladesh – May 20, 2025:
The Bangladesh Beekeepers Association marked World Bee Day 2025 on May 20 with an awareness event in front of the Upazila Agriculture Officer’s Office in Satkhira's Tala upazila. With the slogan “Bee Inspired by Nature to Nourish Us All,” the event aimed to promote awareness about the essential role of bees and other pollinators in sustainable agriculture and biodiversity.
Beekeepers and supporters, dressed in yellow shirts featuring bee-themed logos, gathered for a group photo holding a banner to commemorate the day. The event highlighted the importance of bee conservation amid growing threats from environmental degradation, pesticide use, and climate change.
Organizers emphasized the economic and ecological significance of beekeeping in Bangladesh, especially in rural communities. They also encouraged local farmers and youth to explore sustainable beekeeping practices as a way to improve livelihoods while supporting nature.
World Bee Day is celebrated globally to honor Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern apiculture, and to remind the world of the critical role bees play in our ecosystems.
The Bangladesh Beekeepers Association continues to work across districts to build awareness and support for beekeeping and pollinator protection throughout the country.
