Beekeepers in Rajshahi Celebrate World Bee Day 2025

Rajshahi, Bangladesh – May 20, 2025:

World Bee Day 2025 was observed in Rajshahi with an awareness campaign organized by the Bangladesh Beekeepers Association under the global theme “Bee Inspired by Nature to Nourish Us All.” The event aimed to raise public awareness about the vital role bees and other pollinators play in food security, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability.

Beekeepers and volunteers, wearing bright yellow shirts bearing bee conservation slogans, gathered in a prominent location in Rajshahi city near a historic airplane monument. Holding a banner, they advocated for increased protection of bees and promoted sustainable beekeeping practices.

The event emphasized the critical ecological contributions of pollinators, especially in agricultural regions like Rajshahi, and encouraged more people to support local beekeeping initiatives. The organizers also called for stronger policy support to address threats to bees including pesticide use, climate change, and habitat loss.

World Bee Day is celebrated internationally on May 20 to honor Anton Janša, the pioneer of modern beekeeping, and to highlight the urgent need to protect pollinators for the future of the planet.

The Bangladesh Beekeepers Association continues its mission to spread bee awareness across the nation through education, training, and local engagement.
