World Bee Day 2025 Celebrated in Khagrachari Hill District

Khagrachari, Bangladesh – May 20, 2025:

To mark World Bee Day 2025, the Bangladesh Beekeepers Association organized an awareness event in front of the Upazila Agriculture Office in Matiranga, Khagrachari. With the theme “Bee Inspired by Nature to Nourish Us All,” the event aimed to highlight the critical role of bees in pollination, biodiversity, and sustainable farming, especially in the unique ecosystem of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Wearing yellow t-shirts symbolizing bee conservation, beekeepers and local participants posed with a banner to show solidarity with the global movement to protect pollinators. The program underscored the importance of sustainable beekeeping in hill regions and encouraged local communities to participate in environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

Speakers at the event noted that the hilly terrain of Khagrachari offers ideal conditions for beekeeping and that enhanced awareness and support can help improve livelihoods while conserving nature. The event also called for minimizing pesticide use and protecting natural habitats to ensure the survival of pollinators.

Observed annually on May 20, World Bee Day commemorates the birth of Anton Janša, a pioneer in modern beekeeping. The day serves as a global reminder of the essential role bees play in ecosystems, food production, and climate resilience.

The Bangladesh Beekeepers Association continues to engage with communities in remote and urban areas alike, aiming to create a national network of pollinator-friendly practices and informed beekeepers.
