Jhenaidah, Bangladesh – May 20, 2025:
The Bangladesh Beekeepers Association celebrated World Bee Day 2025 on May 20 with a special event held at the Upazila Agriculture Office in Jhenaidah Sadar. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Bee Inspired by Nature to Nourish Us All”.
A group of officials, local beekeepers, and community members gathered to raise awareness about the importance of bees and other pollinators in maintaining biodiversity and ensuring food security. The event was organized to emphasize the vital role bees play in sustainable agriculture and environmental health.
Participants held a banner and posed in front of the Upazila Agriculture Office, showing solidarity and support for global bee conservation efforts. Officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) also attended the event and encouraged more community involvement in beekeeping and pollinator protection initiatives.
World Bee Day is observed globally on May 20 every year to commemorate the birthday of Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern beekeeping, and to highlight the threats bees face due to habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change.
The Bangladesh Beekeepers Association continues to advocate for policies and practices that support beekeeping and the protection of pollinators across the country.
